Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/19/2022

Number: 11

We purchased three milkweed plants. One small plant already had one tiny caterpillar but no eggs. The second milkweed plant had 9 eggs and the third had two eggs. It is now 4/27/2022 and we are watching 9 out of those 11 caterpillars grow. We purchased two butterflies cages in order to keep the milkweed plants outdoors and to protect the eggs and caterpillars from predators. We check “our kids” every day. The first caterpillar is already 1 ½” long. He moved from the plant yesterday (4/26) and stayed on the side of the pot for about 23 hours. He’s back on the leaves eating as of this afternoon, 4/27. The others are all busy eating and growing.
