Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/24/2022

Number: 3

While observing our three hummingbird feeders, which we put out a week in advance of the earliest date (April 29) we had ever seen a hummer at our place. Three male hummers hit upon our dining room bow window and the oriole feeder located not too far away. Two were small and slender, the third was a bit bigger. All three came to the feeders within a matter of about five minutes. The time was 10:05am and the temperature was around 69 degrees and sunny. Winds were 10-15 mph out of the SSW. Expected high temperature for the day is 79 degrees with clouds moving in about 3pm followed by evening rain. Several times a hummer was spotted at the same hummer and oriole feeder during the next three hours. Later in the evening after the rain s passed through the last viewing of a hummer at the feeder was at 8:30pm.
