4/10 the lake was completely frozen
4/22 the lake was completely open/melted
4/29 I spotted the first loon on Branch Pond. I actually saw two loons, but I can't prove they were two separate loons because I had to cut through the woods to get to the other side of the lake, and it's possible the loon swam there faster than I walked. However, I do think it was two separate loons. I'll go back with my kayak in the next couple days (the gate hadn't been open before) to see if it's one or two loons.
