Sightings report image

Date: 05/12/2022

Number: 3

At least two male and one female RTHBs observed at feeder.

Likely the same two males which arrived the past two days, observed around noon time no longer tolerating each other at the feeder but cannot tell which one chases the other away more.

After 5 p.m., small female arrived. She drank a few sips and took a few pecks to the back of the neck by a male before allowing herself to be run off. Her toughness and streaky neck makes me wonder if she is the scruffy looking runt fledgling which the other two bullied all last summer, then stayed a full week (after the other two departed) trying to put on weight with the feeder to herself and being the last RTHB observed here. I did not get a picture of her yet, pictured is one of the males.

Also wondering if the big dominant old male will return another season and run them all away from this territory. If so, it might be his fifth season.
