Two male and two female RTHBs observed near feeder.
It's difficult to say exactly how many total, as it's usually only one or two individuals at a time, but probably at least three males and three females in the immediate territory.
The image is from 20th May 2022, showing a challenger come in and give a tail flip from above before being chased by the male on the feeder now dominating it. The dominant male also shown later that day with his gorget most often appearing dark copper colored with brilliant shimmering gold. The copper male has been observed at least since 17th May, and began defending the feeder vigorously since the 20th.
Today, again observed a female come to the feeder, perch briefly as that dominant male flew down from a perch above, did his mini u-shaped flight dance before following her back into the woods.
The past week cooled down with nights near freezing and days in the low fifties Fahrenheit, with slight warm up today to a high of 62F, and about an inch total rain from 19th to 22nd May.
