Though we found eggs earlier this month, this is the first adult monarch that we’ve spotted this season. She was flying around a field with common milkweed at West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve. After fluttering around, we noticed she landed on a common milkweed plant. When she left, we examined the plant and found one monarch egg laid on top of a small leaf.
