As we sat on our dock, two loons were paddling back and forth on Wolf Lake in the evening near sunset. Then they raced right across the surface of the water, reminding me of old Roadrunner cartoons. And THEN they treated us to their unmistakable calls! We sometimes see them at this time of the year as they make a brief stop on their way much farther north.
