Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/17/2022

Number: 16

On this Easter Sunday I saw at least 16 monarchs throughout the day. There were quite a few that had particularly faded and tattery wings.

At 11:30am it was 79 degrees F, cloudy, light wind from the south, with 73% humidity. I followed at different moments 3 female monarchs who were actively egg-laying. one was chased by a male. There were other monarchs flying about, some resting/sunning, and nectaring at times.

The milkweed is healthy ~ budding and blooming (providing an additional nectar source). There are eggs and all stages of monarch larvae. This is a photo of one of the female monarchs I followed this morning as she found milkweed to lay her eggs on. She is resting atop a budding milkweed.
