Monarch Waystation #271 reports a big 5th instar and two 4th instar larvae seen feeding or resting on front bed milkweeds. One 4th instar was resting on a butterflyweed in the morning, the other two instars were seen on purple milkweeds later. Perhaps they are the older instars of larvae seen in the same patch of milkweeds on May first. If a female monarch flying out front in the afternoon around 1:45 pm had not chosen to rest on that milkweed I would not have found the larva beneath her framed in the camera's viewfinder. Thanks, Mom, for "pointing out" the youngsters!
