Monarch Waystation #271 reports one very determined faded-color female monarch, landing and assessing purple milkweed leaves, "touch and go" style, and laying eggs around 12:45 pm. Using binoculars to study her while she rested 1:45-2 pm, I found 2 distinctive "bird beak" notches on her lower left wing. She rested on the tallest purple milkweed stalks during times when breezes would pick up. She was not seen feeding on nectar sources, more determined to lay eggs. I've named her "Notch-tasha."
