One female, crisp and bright, is the first I’ve seen this year. She was visiting and revisiting the top tender leaves of young milkweed (10-12†tall), briefly “hunching†into an egg laying posture, then flying off to evaluate a different plant. This behavior continued for 10-15 min, then she departed to a different area. 30 min later I saw a female monarch (the same?) back in the initial area repeating the same behavior.
