Number: 1

6:21pm Hot & humid! Full sun, 31°c with real feel of 36°, 67% humidity SSW wind @ 19kmh.
Monarch flew in from the SW at about 5' above ground. Flew 4-5' above common milkweed at back of house. Cruised north along east side of house again over more Common milkweed. Wisteria is all that is in bloom there. It continued north over 2 more patches of Common then west. Flitted low 1-3' above ground...dipping occassionally as if looking for mw. Then flew east back toward me & over the road 6' up. It continued back & forth east & west & then west to neighbours & out of view. Behaviour was that of a female but perhaps too hot for ovipositing. Could not determine from video if M or F. It appeared fresh.

It has been cool with today being first hot day & continues for a day or two before dropping to around 20°c for a few days then back to hot & humid. Really no flowers yet in bloom but both my Common & Swamp are about to burst. They will be some of the first out of our numerous nectar plants. Columbine & caledula are in flower. And as mentioned wisteria is in bloom.
