Sightings report image

Date: 06/17/2022

Number: 22

The season is very slow to start. I have found very few eggs less than 20 and seven small larvae in nature. I constructed this habitat out of old screens and the first of my caterpillars pupated on the 17th. I have a total of 22 caterpillars in all stages. I have averaged 80% success and have released over 100 butterflies the last two years. I am a special ed teacher and bring my project into my summer school program and it has brought much joy to the students. We constructed a butterfly garden earlier this spring with the students participating as much as they could , transplanting flowers and milkweed from untended areas around the school property.
