Sightings report image

Date: 06/21/2022

Number: 2

There was a flurry of activity back in April when they arrived. Then, it got relatively quiet for awhile as the females began nesting, and I was only regularly seeing our resident adult male. Activity has been increasing again just recently. I'm not only seeing our resident male, but also at least one adult female or juvenile. A couple days ago, I saw a chase involving three across our front yard. Lots of flowers are being visited, including bee balm, nasturtium, cuphea, several different varieties of salvia, snapdragon, hollyhock, clematis, hibiscus, verbena, lantana, Major Wheeler honeysuckle, petunia, calibrachoa, zinnia, pentas, fuchsia, hosta, cone flower, canna lilly, cosmo, cleome, phlox, tithonia, borage, scarlet runner bean, Mexican petunia, agastache, and some others. It's such a delight having them back and we look forward to seeing the mama hummers and their babies throughout the summer as well.
