Milkweed Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 06/17/2022

Number: 1

On a path 600' long by 40' wide (0.551 Acre): counted 151 milkweed plants (149 common, alcepias syriaca, and 2? swamp, asclepias incarnata), from 8" to 24" tall with flower buds emerging, much sign of leaves nibbled by larvae, especially edges.

Inspected about ten leafs, found 1 egg, one tiny monarch larva (~6mm long 2nd instar) possibly from the first reported egg, several predators (one large spider, Steatoda triangulosa, and several milkweed bugs). (This larva has been reported in 'first larva observed report')

[151 plants / 0.551 acre × (3 acres + 4 acres 4x as densely planted ) = ~7,000 milkweed plants estimated]
