Monarch Waystation #271 reports finding a 3rd instar monarch caterpillar, seen resting at the base of a tropical milkweed in a front yard pot today. The larva was resting on the leaf of a viola sprout sharing the pot with the milkweed. A diligent search for larvae was not made, this was a lucky find while checking pots for water needs. Temps that sunny day began around 60F and maxed to about 80F; photo taken about 3:45 pm.
