Activity is definitely picking up. We've had our resident adult male since early April. The females that arrived shortly after quickly disappeared to nest. We have also been observing one juvenile for the past few weeks. Our resident adult male feeds from both flowers and feeders. The juvenile seems to mainly stick to flowers. When she does visit a feeder, she doesn't perch and you can tell she still isn't quite comfortable with feeders. The last couple of days, we've observed at least one other juvenile. Today, the new juvenile and the one that emerged a few weeks ago spent most of the day sparring and chasing each other rather aggressively. Interestingly, our resident adult male seems to stay out of their battles. He has attempted to entice each of them to mate with his U shaped dance/flight. The little newbie doesn't appear to know how to use a feeder at all yet. She/he circles them and is still checking them out and feeding from our flowers. I can only say with certainty that we're currently seeing 3, however, it seems like there are even more all of a sudden. Today, I was spotting them constantly throughout our front and back yards. I do believe fledglings just left one or more nests. This is what we've been waiting for!
