Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/28/2022

Number: 1

First Monarch I've seen this year. It was nectaring in a patch of milkweed near the lake edge. 9:30 a.m., 71 F, no wind. I shared the photo with the Sweitzer Lake State Park Manager. An employee said he had just seen a Monarch near the camping area moments earlier. This park has abundant Asclepias speciosa, and the manager said they understand the importance of milkweed and make every effort to protect it.
