Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/02/2022

Number: 6

A dearth of monarch butterflies this June.

From the common milkweed plants in my home garden in Overland Park, KS in June of 2020, I found and raised thirty nine caterpillars to become butterflies. In June 2021 the number was sixty that I successfully raised to be butterflies. This year, in June of 2022, even though I have checked every morning, I have only found six caterpillars around two and a half weeks ago. They have just now formed their chrysalis. We have not seen any monarch butterflies at all flying around, and we have plenty of milkweed to attract them.
