Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 07/02/2022

Number: 1

For the past month, I have had daily visits of one to two adult Monarchs in my yard. The narrow leaf milkweed I planted by seed numbers at least 30 plants with more emerging in other places I did not intend. This plant is indeed a weed!

I have observed that milkweed grown by seed is much more hearty than plants purchased from plant nurseries.

I also have had countless caterpillars feast on my milkweed during this last month and have observed 6 butterflies eclose from chrysalis. I am sure numerous other caterpillars travel through my fence to form their chrysalis. And several of them died via Tfly attack.

This spring has been a banner year for helping the Monarch population in my area. The heat of the summer is on but my narrow leaf have regrown beautifully and they are full of eggs.
