Sightings report image

Date: 07/05/2022

Number: 6

11am- 8:30pm
High of 29°c real feel 34°,84% humidity. Rain this morning & cold front arriving tonight will bring temps down to high of about 24°c. Light westerly wind all day.

Unknown how many I saw. I know I saw a male & a female nectaring on Common milkweed. A few times a monarch flitted past our patio door but I couldn't get out quick enough to get a pic. I saw a patrolling male or two throughout the day flying around the yard. I do know for sure that at 8:23 pm I was watching 2 monarchs nectaring on Common milkweed across the road on the dike bank when what flew past....A mated pair! So that's 4 at the same time! That's our 2nd mated pair this season & both at sunset. He carried her across the road to our sycamore tree....where he stopped a few times but finally settled in the willow.
