An unusual sighting of a female monarch today. She was nectaring only from what I could tell. Kept coming to one small group of Asclepias tuberosa - didn’t even bother going to the other blooming plants (Echinacea purpurea, Pycnanthemum pycnanthemoides, Agastache foeniciulum), or other milkweeds (A. perennis, incarnata, verticillata). She was gorgeous, though!! Saw several times throughout the afternoon. She would head across the street to rest in a dogwood when I got too close but return shortly after.
