This is the first of ten caterpillars, found since the middle of June, that has made it to the butterfly stage. There have simply been very few eggs or cats to be found this year. We have not seen any monarchs at all flying around our common milkweed plants. At this time last year I had found over sixty cats to raise into butterflies.
