I’m happy to see that at least one of the dozen or so eggs laid in my yard last week made it to 2nd instar! This is the first confirmed larva growing “wild†in my Waystation in the six summers since I first bought a milkweed plant and began changing the yard to pollinator habitat.
There is another out there, but it was protected from egg for about five days after i checked milkweed I was thinning and found it (the egg). That one is about twice the size. It was kept outside in the shade in a container with a damp paper towel. I’ll guess the humidity and more moderate temperature fluctuations helped it eat & grow faster.
