Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 07/11/2022

Number: 1

This was the first Monarch to emerge from its chrysalis of 4 eggs collected on June 10 . There were 3 adults in the field at the time that arrived in late May. In early July the main migration arrived and as of today, we have about 27 adults in the field. We have over 50 eggs and larva inside to be protected and reared, collected from paths that need to be mowed. The current Monarchs are putting eggs on just about every small milkweed plant in the field. The field of common milkweed is in full bloom. All those eggs will be left in place to rear themselves.
