Had technical difficulties, but I'm back. Lots of activity this year - much more so than the last several years. It's really been fun watching the antics.
About a week ago, I saw a male performing courtship flights for two days. I was quite surprised! Very late for that. Maybe it was wishful thinking on his part.
It has been consistently busy at the feeders, even with females on nests. There has been a lot of chasing birds off of the feeders. I'm going through a lot more food than the past two years.
I had to get out the bigger feeders, not needed in years.
The are also enjoying petunias, celosia, lantana, and, most of all, salvia.
The two males I've seen have entirely different mannerisms. I can confidently report I've seen three, of whatever gender, simultaneously. Thought I saw 4 one evening, but I can't guarantee that.
I put lights on near the feeders in the evening. The other night, I saw one at a feeder at 8:45; sunset is at about 8:20. The only thing I can think is that the particular bird is spending the night in the Yew hedge, about 3 feet from the feeder.
