First monarch of the season feeding on the "wild" butterfly weed (aesclepius). I've been out in the garden everyday and this is the first monarch that I've seen.

Butterfly numbers in general seem to be down from previous years. Fewer fritillaries and swallowtails, (Spicebush, Eastern black and Eastern Tiger)
