First monarch I've seen this early in the year. Usually it's September or October. It was feeding on my many zinnias. It did not approach the milkweed and, sadly, my butterfly bush is struggling with dryness. I do have about a dozen milkweeds in the near proximity should a breeding female come near. I could not determine the sex.
