Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/18/2022

Number: 3

Lots of RTH activity. At feeders, hanging flowers and yucca. But most interesting was three juveniles seemingly learning the art of being territorial… They would chase each other then land next to one another. Or stop at the same time to feed at separate feeders. And they were easily distracted. One hovered beak to beak to me from less than a foot away for several seconds before rejoining the fray. My perception is the juveniles flying is (especially when hovering) much less precise than adult birds. Seeing multiple RTHs on multiple days is a first at this location for me.
