Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/22/2022

Number: 1

This monarch caterpillar is dead. It was very large and alive the night before. I checked on it at around 1 PM and it was dead. This same scenario happened with two other caterpillars earlier this month. I've seen them killed by wasps, but this appears different. Wondering if it's the 90 degree heat/intense sun.
In my previous post (sorry, wrong location) it had been rainy and the sun hadn't been out for a few days so hoping that large caterpillar made it to the next phase. The dead one pictured was several days behind in development on the 19th.
