I was picking my cucumbers and our resident hummingbird came to the cucumber patch to sip nectar. She hovered and looked at me for several long seconds, then lighted on the metal trellis they are climbing on. She gave me a good long look. She wasn't more than 10 inches away. This hummer enjoys my cannas, liatris, milkweek (3 kinds), butterfly bush and other Missouri native flowers.
