Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/24/2022

Number: 1

While checking on the eggs I had spotted the day before, I came across one small caterpillar larva right up in the flowers of the milkweed. After several hours, I noticed he had not moved and on closer inspection, I discovered he was wrapped tight in a spider web. I brought him in the house with some milkweed leaves, but after 2 days of no movement or feeding observed, I decided he might be better off in his natural habitat. I moved him to a different milkweed plant. He was still alive but clearly not doing well. Unfortunately,I found no sign of him the following day.
