Two adults were mating - the male flew up carrying the female upside down. The female looked very unhealthy. Soon a third monarch chased the two away.
Many eggs and several small larvae have been seen in this patch for the past two or three weeks. However,the small caterpillars do not seem to grow into large ones. ? earwigs ? other insects. Also, this patch has been raided by a porcupine and many of the milkweed plants physically destroyed.
