I have yet to see an adult monarch, eggs or larva this year in my garden, nor have I seen any in a nearby park which has a huge area of milkweed and wildflowers. This is VERY unusual, and likely due to the Sever Drought that our part of Illinois has been in this summer. Only 2.2 inches of rain since June 1, about 25% of normal for the summer. Even hardy native flowers, such as purple coneflowers, are stunted in our garden. Our garden milkweed is doing well, though, and this will be a separate report.
