Sightings report image

Date: 07/30/2022

Number: 4

in a 10-acre prairie could see 4 butterflies (at least two of which were males) at the same time; there may have been more tgat weren't moving at that time; 3 frequently came together while moving among the blazing stars and swamp (rose) milkweed; the male in the photo was rather fresh looking compared to a second male that was faded and the two pheromone pouches looked dried up; besides the swamp milkweed, there were also whorled milkweed and a few common milkweed; there may have been butterfly milkweed (there were some last year) but most of them are done blooming and so harder to see with all of the other wildflowers around them
