Eric and Carle (our two new friends) were hitchhikers on a purchase of native Milkweed plants at the Purcellville, VA Southern States store. We purchased 4 plants, and the two larvae were on the same plant. We planted all 4 milkweed together in an isolated area with other deer-resistant plants. Our plants are currently covered in fine netting to protect them from large predators, but we are going to purchase mesh tomorrow to protect Eric and Carle from insect predators. Eric is small, about 1" long (in the photo), but Carle is about 2" long.
