Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/02/2022

Number: 1

Yesterday, an older female Monarch spent a couple hours in our garden nectaring on Joe Pye Weed and Swamp Milkweed. Her wings showed evidence of scale loss and she had a tattered right hind wing. She was still flying strong and was also ovipositing, sometimes, it seemed, simultaneously while she was nectaring! I counted ten new eggs this morning - 4 on Whorled and 6 on Common. Starting to see at least one or two Monarchs a day in our area now!
