I saw 11 adult monarchs today on separate occasions, in separate locations on Chappaquiddick. Some were taking nectar from Buddleja bushes. Some were flying in open meadows or woodlands.
Additionally, I saw an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, multiple White Admirals, multiple black swallowtails, several as-yet-unidentified fritillaries, and Cabbage Whites too numerous to count. This island is a paradise for butterflies!!!
