This is a patch of about 20 common milkweed in my yard. I also have about 30 butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) and several swamp milkweed (Aslepias incarnata).
Early in the season, there were more than a dozen larva on the A. tuberosa. In my yard, there are consistently more larva/eggs on the A. tuberosa.
