Saw up to three monarchs in my yard. The first at 7:37 am.
Another about 8:30.
I have video that looks like a male was after a female a couple of times in the butterfly bush around 10 am and she shook him off twice. He was pretty frantically searching for her in the bushes & trees.
A male patrolled most of the day. Chased off a swallowtail and hummingbird.
About 2:38 pm there was a mating not caught on video.
At least one female nectared during the afternoon until a storm rolled up about 5:30.
[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/07/2022]:
At least two of the adults were almost certainly captive reared adults released here the day before. I think the male was likely the “resident” male, but cannot say for certain of course.
