Sightings report image

Number: 2

This has been an unusually slow summer. At present, we have only one - three adult visitors per day. We are finding approximately two cats daily that have just emerged from eggs. To date, from July 31, we have located 12 cats predominantly on pink swamp weed. We have four varieties of weed planted. We remove the cats in first to third instar stages and raise in a safe environment until we feel they have reached a safe length to be released into our monarch cages. We do this to protect the instars from being taken by wasp predators.
