I believe we have many more than 8; that's a conservative estimate. We have 2, maybe 3 adult males, several adult females, and many young. They are constantly chasing one another from various flowers and feeders through both front and back yards. We have 7 feeders out, strategically placed as out of sight from one another as possible and there are various gardens as well. Some have "claimed" his or her feeder and flowers and work very hard to defend, while others are constantly vying to take over. Our alpha resident male appears to be more tolerant of some than others. It's fascinating to observe the dynamics between them and such a blessing to have them here. We need a good, solid, soaking rain desperately. It has been such a dry and hot summer.
