Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/04/2022

Number: 2

Two monarchs were observed late this morning as the temperature warmed into the 90s. The female in the attached image was flying over a linear patch of whorled milkweed stems, ovipositing under new flower buds and also between the stem and new leaves as shown in the image attached. A second monarch flew head-high over the site, circled, then flew along the Ro Grande away from this site. The late morning was sunny, hot, and with moderate wind, following an early morning monsoon rainstorm just before dawn. The site's soil was moist.
