Know that the Monarch Blitz is from July 29 – August 7 but must go back to June of 2022 because what had started out so beautifully for our monarch friends is now ending so pitifully poor! We do not know why, though we can hazard a guess. Pray that this is not a harbinger of things to come because this has NEVER happened to us before since we became an official Monarch Waystation (ID 7251) on September 1, 2013!
Why, only three years ago, in November of 2018 we had written to family and friends – “From caterpillars feasting on milkweeds and fennel to chrysalises then butterflies, George and I witnessed over 30 Monarchs emerging into new life!”
Don’t know if we will see any this year…
But on this June 9, 2022, we were absolutely delighted with our first monarch sighting!
