Milkweed Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/06/2022

Number: 1

This cultivated Zizotes was planted three years ago as an experiment to find a good growing location for Zizotes on my property. Four Zizotes were planted in four different locations. This is the only one surviving and thriving. It is planted at the end of a water drainage pipe and receives regular waterings. It is about 300' from any structures and is in a native plants area.
Alas, no Monarchs have discovered this milkweed patch, but I am ever hopeful. Monarchs usually overnight/roost at my home on their journey to Mexico. Am eager to see how the drought impacts their travels through dry West Texas this year.
