This is the 1st larva or egg I have seen since May and I check quite frequently. I saw higher counts in May than I do now in August. The field that I check has probably on the order of tens if not hundreds of thousand stems of common milkweed. Each time I come here, about once a week I check a few dozen plants and have come up empty handed all summer except for this one.
