9:10am-10:10 am observed 6 monarchs arrive from the NE & flit sw through our property toward Point Pelee. Did id mostly males in good condition. Some stopped to quickly nectar on green-headed coneflowers in backyard.
One settled on senesced Elecampagne.
One tattered but vibrant coloured female stayed around for quite awhile nectaring on coneflowers & butterflyweed.
She did lay an egg on potted Swamp mw that I moved over to where she was hanging out.
Around 4 pm husband alerted me to a mated pair in the maple tree.
