Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/14/2022

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports the sighting of a female or juvenile hummingbird at 2:38 pm today, in the front garden bed outside the kitchen window. It was in view for about 5-10 seconds as it flew to 3 different blooms. 2 stops were to separate Lady-in-Red Salvia plants along the edge of the front bed, third stop to an orange Tithonia bloom at the edge of the patio, center of the large bed. The bird was in the shade the whole time, so its colors and key field markings were muted. I did not see a red throat. After the 3 stops to nectar it flew westward out of sight. Too fast to grab a camera or take a photo.
