[Journey North Data Verifier Note: contacted observer for more information about this observation; report moved from Monarch Larva Sighted to Monarch, Captive-Reared, 08/15/2022; additional information provided by observer and added, 08/16/2022]:

We have a large number of milkweed plants in pots, containers, planters and some in the ground, all are outside, although some are covered which we use as feed for the caterpillars and prevents the monarch from laying eggs on them. we inspect our plants every second day for eggs, those plants we find with eggs are moved into enclosures until they hatch, once hatched, we then move the caterpillars to different enclosures to feed ( and boy do they eat ) it is in these enclosures that they chrysalis / cocoon . Some do make them in the most stupid places and we we move them into a smaller enclosure, you can see this in one photo, wooden sticks that we hang them from using dental floss. We also find caterpillars on the plants we have in the ground, or ones that have been playing hide and seek on us, they also get moved into the enclosures. I guess they could be classed as captive reared, but we do not have any in enclosures to breed, we just release them.
