Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/18/2022

Number: 12

Tremendous activity continues from dawn to dusk all day with our hummingbirds. Twelve is a conservative estimate. There are at least 2 adult resident males, several adult resident mama females, and lots and lots of juveniles. The juvie males' throats are showing more and more new red each day. I added 2 more feeders for a total of 9 and I'm changing them out every other day. We still have lots of flowers in bloom, including a 2nd flush of bee balm, which they love. Some of their other favorites are cuphea (vermillionaire), Major Wheeler's honeysuckle, several varieties of salvia, tithonia, porter weed, nasturtium, dicliptera, bouvardia, butterfly bush, firecracker plant, shrimp plant, and fuchsia. Each year, I plant more and more for them. They use the feeders, but they love the flowers. We love our hummers!
